Writing a story in a historical setting? This webinar is for you!

Acclaimed author Justina Ireland will talk about how to approach your research to get your historical setting and details just right. Justina will give an introduction to the topic and then proceed to answer as many of the questions you (and the other participants) have submitted prior to the webinar.


Justina Ireland is the author of several fantasy YA novels (Vengeance Bound, Promise of Shadows) and books set in the Star Wars franchise (Lando’s Luck, Spark of the Resistance, and the upcoming A Test of Courage).

Her novel Dread Nation, a New York Times bestseller, is an alternate history set in 19th century U.S. The novel won the 2019 Locus Award in the YA category. The long-awaited sequel to Dread Nation, Deathless Divide, is available now.

Justina is the former co-editor in chief of FIYAH Literary Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction, for which she won a World Fantasy Award. She holds a BA from Armstrong Atlantic University and an MFA from Hamline University.
